Syd Seifert, LCSW, MA
Psychotherapist - Photographer - Writer
Hi. I'm Syd (she/they), a genderqueer Latina artist, writer, and therapist based in New York City. Growing up in the vibrant 80s and 90s here, I discovered the power and joy in embracing my sexuality and body despite the noise from society, teen magazines, and everyone in between.
I hold a Master's degree in Sexuality Studies from San Francisco State University, where my research focused on the challenges faced by marginalized young adults dealing with housing insecurity and exploring their sexuality and identity. Later, I earned a Master’s in Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in New York, I specialize in helping individuals heal from early childhood trauma and navigate their journeys of gender, sex, and sexuality with warmth and empathy.
My writing has been featured in the $pread anthology, where I contributed "Loving a Working Mother," a piece on the world of sex work and the strong women within it. Inspired by Louise DeSalvo's "Writing as a Way of Healing," I view writing as a powerful tool for making sense of our past and finding our way to healing and growth.
Photography is another passion of mine. My camera acts as a bridge, capturing moments of confidence and empowerment in my subjects. It's a medium where I explore and express my artistic vision.
When I’m not working, you can find me embracing my inner mermaid on the shores of Fire Island with my adorable pup, Otis Mae Brown. I bring a mix of lightheartedness and depth to everything I do, aiming to connect and inspire through my art and therapy practice. Let’s Connect xxx
